Shannon Russ
Reality Check Director, Yuba-Sutter
Born and raised in Yuba City, Shannon left the great Nor Cal to study at Pepperdine University. After Graduating in 2010 with 3 years in Malibu California, 1 year of studying abroad in Heidelberg Germany, and a month in Malindi Kenya under her belt, Shannon finally returned home to be the Director of Development at A Woman’s Friend Pregnancy Resource Clinic in 2011. Once on board, it was clear that her passion was for the message of sexual integrity to be spread throughout the entire Yuba-Sutter and Colusa counties. During her senior year at Pepperdine she interned for Reality Check and knew that the message in these presentations was one that excelled in catching the attention of youth and the importance of purity. Through calculating statistics as part of her duties for Reality Check, she saw the results of the program firsthand. “I knew we had to have Reality Check in our area if we wanted to see our pregnancy prevention program making a difference by showing individuals that they have value and worth,” says Russ. |

Hailey Messick
Reality Check Speaker
Hailey was born and raised in the Yuba City/Marysville area. Upon graduating from Marysville High School in 2008, she moved to Las Vegas and worked as an Executive Assistant for Shari Spencer, owner of the athlete management firm, The Spencer Firm. While working there, she saw how easily people could get swept away in this industry and saw firsthand the media's impact in undermining healthy attitudes about sex. Now, back in Marysville pursuing her degree in economics, it is her goal to help youth learn the importance of sexual integrity and the positive and negative impact that it has on their lives. Some of Hailey's passions include traveling, being outdoors, and snowboarding! |

Katie Senn
Reality Check Speaker
Katie was born in Sacramento, but moved to the Yuba-Sutter area when she was young. A 2002 graduate of Marysville High School, she attended Yuba College for two years before transferring to Sacramento State to complete her degree. During her college years she saw how easy it was for her friends and people around her to get caught up in the ways of the world without thinking much about the consequences. After moving back to Marysville in 2007, Katie felt compelled to find a way to encourage young people to make good decisions by speaking to them a message of confidence and self-worth. When A Woman’s Friend approached her in the spring of 2010 to become their sexual integrity speaker to young adults, she knew this was the opportunity she had been looking for! She is excited to present the message of Reality Check to teenagers in the Yuba-Sutter and Colusa area. |
